Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography
Program Overview
This is a 21-month certificate program designed to produce
competent sonographers through educational and clinical experiences at the region's premier academic health center. The program's location in the University of Kansas Medical Center and The University of Kansas Hospital means students learn from the top faculty and clinicians in their fields, and the setting provides KU students with exposure to the latest in equipment and procedures.
A certificate from the University of Kansas is awarded to the student upon successful completion of the program. Graduates are eligible to take the national registry examinations given by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in adult cardiac sonography, and will then be qualified to work in hospitals,
clinics and doctors' offices as members of the dynamic healthcare team
of the future.

The program was first available as an academic program in the School of Allied Health in 2004 and is provided by Mid-America Cardiology in The University of Kansas Hospital.
