Professional Background
Dr. Siengsukon teaches neuroscience in the DPT curriculum and medical imaging in the post-professional DPT curriculum. Dr. Siengsukon’s clinical background is in outpatient physical therapy treating individuals with musculoskeletal and neurologic injury.

Academic Background
Dr. Siengsukon began her academic career at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo., where she earned both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. In 2008, Dr. Siengsukon earned her PhD in Rehabilitation Science from KU Medical Center.

Research Focus
Dr. Siengsukon is currently examing the role of sleep in motor skill learning in individuals with stroke. Dr. Siengsukon aims to understand the sleep characteristics of individuals with stroke and how these sleep characteristics influence overnight skill enhancement.

Lab Group Site

Brain Behavior Laboratory

Exploring the factors that influence motor skill learning, such as issues related to aging, damage to the brain, sleep and the type/amount of practice. Of particular interest is understanding how individuals with brain damage recover motor function and the underlying mechanisms that promote recovery.
